Check out the gorgeous poster for this year’s Children’s Book Week in the US – designed by Grace Lee, who won the Children’s Book Choice Illustrator of the Year last year for her book Sofia the First: The Floating Palace (written by Catherine Hapka; Disney Press, 2013). Grace was born in Taiwan and grew up in Los Angeles.
And this year’s beautiful bookmark is designed by Raúl Colón and features an illustration based on his superb wordless book Draw! – along with instructions on how to draw my favourite animal, an elephant…
Posters can be ordered here, or you can and buy posters going back to 1921 here. Previous years’ bookmarks can be viewed and dowloaded here.
This year’s Children’s Book Week takes place 4-10 May and voting opens on the 17 March for the Children’s Choice Book Awards (open to US kids and teens only…). You can find details of the award categories and the list of finalists here.
How might I order Colon bookmarks? I asked for posters, but I don’t know whether you make bookmarks available in hard copy. Thank you.
The bookmarks are available for printing (for non-commercial purposes); you don’t need to send off for them – this is probably a better link, actually – http://www.bookweekonline.com/bookmark. CCBC suggest using card but I suppose you could use paper then fold and glue it so the sketch instructions are on the back. My suggestion would be to download the image so you can print out multiple copies for a class on a single sheet… I hope that helps.
